11 Halifax Clubs That Give You An Excuse To Be Savage

Get lit!

When you bring thirty thousand University students into a city that has the most bars per capita in all of North America, things are bound to get pretty hectic. Halifax is known for having an incredible night life, with new bars and clubs constantly popping up and closing. Every night there’s a special on drinks somewhere, and every night there’s live music to be heard.

Let off a little steam this long weekend and bring your squad to one of these dope Halifax night clubs for a guaranteed good time.

1. The Dome // 1726 Argyle Street

Also known as “The Dirty Dome,” the nickname alone should give you an idea as to why this club gets the top spot on our list. The Dome is a gigantic two story club with the same aesthetic as a Laser Quest, that one might stumble into blindly after dancing too hard at Cheers.

2. Cheers Bar & Grill // 1741 Grafton Street

Though Cheers may at first appear to be a charming Maritime pub, don’t let their diner style booths and classic portraiture fool you. Every Thursday night students turn this pub into one of the best clubs in Halifax – join in on the party, and take advantage of their cheap drinks. If you're feeling low key head over for their Monday night karaoke.

3. Pacifico Nightclub // 1505 Barrington Street

A popular spot to host corporate events or fundraisers, Pacifico is a huge underground club on Barrington and one of the nicest venues in Halifax. They have a massive dance floor and stage area capable of hosting some of the best D.J’s in town, not to mention a room full of pool tables, a giant bar and a ceiling covered in disco balls (!).

4. The Seahorse Tavern // 2037 Gottingen Street

The Seahorse moved a few years ago form its coveted spot on Argyle Street up to the North End, where it now resides beneath The Marquee. Still one of the most popular clubs in Halifax, The Seahorse is known for hosting some unreal events, including their 70’s themed “It Felt Like A Kiss,” and “The Jam,” a funky weekly North End dance party.

5. The Toothy Moose // 1661 Argyle Street

Halifax’s resident country music bar The Toothy Moose is a sprawling concrete club where the drinks are affordable and people wear cowboy hats. Owned in part by Trailer Parks Boys actor Mike Smith who plays Bubbles, Toothys is located on the corner of Argyle and Sackville, right behind where that giant moose’s head is suspended.

6. The Argyle Bar & Grill // 1575 Argyle Street

One of the most popular clubs in the city, The Argyle showcases some awesome up and coming D.J’s and often hosts legendary dance parties. The middle floor is a great place to grab drinks, but the basement and patio are where the parties really happen – recently The Argyle had a foam party that looked off the chain.

7. Reflections Cabaret // 5187 Salter Street

One of Halifax’s few remaining cabarets, Reflections upgraded their digs recently by moving into a two storey, 5400 square foot venue on the other side of Salter Street. Events at Refs celebrate the LGBTQ community in Halifax, and the cabaret is known for hosting some awesome live musical acts and sweet drag competitions.

8. The Marquee // 2037 Gottingen Street

Another popular spot for corporate events and functions, The Marquee recently hosted a Festival Music Night for the Atlantic Film Festival, with Paper Lions and Joel Plaskett as headliners. Located right above The Seahorse in Halifax’s North End, some of the best concerts in Halifax take place here, so keep an eye out for tickets.

9. Gus’ Pub // 2605 Agricola Street

Another sweet North End bar, Gus’s is typically an unassuming host to local musical acts and comedians. However once in a while they’re known for throwing some extremely sweaty dance parties on the low. Also a great spot to make your fortune by playing their in house electronic gambling machines.

10. The Lower Deck // 1887 Upper Water Street

Known as the place to be on Sunday nights, The Lower Deck has two stories of festivities going on inside, and a huge outdoor patio/stage area in the summer. Located in Halifax’s historic waterfront district, catch a show from Signal Hill next time you’re looking for a place to drink at the end of a long week.

11. Split Crow // 1855 Granville Street

Just because Split Crow is more of a bar than a club doesn’t mean people here get any less savage. On Saturday afternoons at three o’clock folks line up down the street to get a table at Split Crow’s power hour, where beers are only $2.50 and time is of the essence. Enjoy a delicious brunch here while you’re getting lit!
