11 Things Your Crush Will Inevitably Do When They're Losing Interest
People, more specifically crushes, are complex creatures that make it hard to determine what's brimming under the surface of their black stares and daydream sessions. When you're emotionally invested small things can easily be blown out of proportion or your love goggles might be blinding you from glaring truths.
So if you're totally crushing on someone and you've made the move from normal conversations to flirty interactions, only to be met with an awkward phase of WTF is going on... we're here to tell you that you might have just reached the danger zone of the relationship.
There are many signs to help you know if things are going sour, some obvious and others more subtle. Here is a guide to decoding your crush's cryptic and maybe just jerk-ish messages and actions to see if the relationship is DOA or if it's just hitting a little turbulence but can easily get back on track to smooth sailing.
1. They send short one word replies.
You know the type of messages. Like "K", "lol", "that's wild", "nice". If any of these are super recurring just know that your timer with this person is almost up!
2. They never make the time to hang out.
At this point you know their work schedule, sleep schedule and even when exactly they go to the washroom. So when they say they're too busy working just know that they just don't want to make it happen.
3. They cancel on plans at the last minute.
This is a huge red flag. They probably knew they were going to cancel plans from the start. Totally avoid them to avoid wasting your time.
4. They don't interact with you on social media.
This brings about feelings like "do they not want people knowing that we're talking?" And that's most likely the case. You can choose to confront the issue or just talk to someone else who will bask in your company and won't be afraid to flaunt it.
5. You're always the first person to initiate a conversation.
Doesn't it get tiring? All of the "hey", "what's up" or "I guess you're busy" messages can get annoying for both of you guys. If you notice this happening, refrain from starting a conversation to see if they decide to start one... that doesn't happen at 1AM. It's the ultimate test.
6. They ghost you for long periods of time.
Not only is this super disrespectful, but it's just lame. Some people rather go ghost on you like a coward, just know that you're so much better off without them!
7. They don't care to listen to you talk about yourself.
The main thing to look for is signs to know if the person genuinely cares about you. And if they're not down to listen to you talk about your day, then hun, they're no good for you at all.
8. They unfollow you on social media.
This is super childish and unnecessary. Normally someone will do this if they have caught feelings over something you did, or if they're just high on the petty scale.
9. They don't mention anything remotely close to the idea of a date.
Every time you bring up something to do with a possible date they don't hesitate to switch topics. There's nothing too mean about this one, but they would be much better off telling you that you're better off as friends.
10. You see them hanging out and getting close with other people.
Whether it's in person or social media, this person constantly goes out and is seen being cozy with other people. If this isn't a surefire sign that they've totally lost interest, then what is?
11. Things between you guys just aren't fun anymore.
You're in the honeymoon phase of the relationship and laughter is essential. If you're not laughing and having a good time with one another than odds are they aren't either. Laughter and fun is key in any relationship so I'm pretty sure the opposite won't make for a good time. Trust your gut instinct and move on!
