2 Little Dogs Were Stolen At Knifepoint In Toronto & Police Are Investigating

Mari and Yurield are still missing.

Two small dogs were stolen at knifepoint in Toronto last week, and the Toronto Police Service (TPS) is asking for the public's help to find them.

On September 1, an individual was walking their dogs in the area of Yonge Street and Dundas Street at around 11 p.m., according to a press release.

The owner was approached by a man and woman they didn't know, and the man "produced a knife," according to police.

The man proceeded to steal the victim's dogs, Mari, a golden brown Shih Tzu, who was in a stroller, and Yurield, a black Scottish Terrier.

TPS Constable Sinderela Chung told Narcity, "there is a concern for the dogs because they require special medication and food," and "they do have allergies."

TPS said the first suspect was a white 25-year-old man with black hair wearing a baseball cap at the time of the theft.

The second suspect is a white woman in her 30s with brown hair, according to a TPS description.

Police report she was wearing a "light green long sleeve shirt and sweat pants."

Chung said they are still looking for the suspects.

Police are asking for anyone with "information on the whereabouts of these dogs" to contact them at 416-808-5200, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or at www.222tips.com.

Dog thefts in Ontario are not unheard of, and just last month, a chihuahua was allegedly stolen inside of a vehicle in Oshawa by a Toronto man.

Thankfully, the chihuahua was returned to its owners.
