310 Children Are Currently Missing In Ontario And The OPP Commissioner Is Speaking Out
Sadly, as we have seen in Ontario recently, multiple children go missing across the province frequently. With multiple Amber Alerts being issued within the past few months, Ontarians are starting to see exactly how troubling the situation is. While the majority of children who go missing are often reunited with their parents, some families aren't so lucky. At the moment, there are currently 310 children that are missing throughout Ontario.
Missing Kids states that in Canada, more than 50,000 children are reported missing to police each and every year. Luckily, a majority of these children are located quickly and safely and reunited with their loved ones. However, some children are not discovered and some missing children reported become long-term cases.
On Twitter today, Thomas Carrique, an OPP Commissioner reported that 310 children are currently missing in Ontario and 45 of them are from OPP jurisdictions. He states that Canadians should be aware of the missing children lists in their areas and to always report any information that you have to missingkids.ca to help reunite these children with their parents.
Missing Kids has a database that showcases all 310 children that are currently missing in Ontario at the moment. The children vary in age, from toddlers to pre-teens and have gone missing from various locations throughout Ontario.
While some of these missing-cases have happened within the past few years, there are also a variety of missing children cases that have gone unsolved for years. Some of these missing children cases that are on Missing Kids showcase children who went missing across the province as early as the 1960s.
Missing Kids works closely with local police to assist in the location of missing children. If you have any information about a missing child you are asked to report it on their website here.
In the past few months, Ontarians have been able to see just how scary a missing child situation can be. Multiple Amber Alerts have been issued across the province in attempts to find children who have gone missing.
One Amber Alert that occurred in Ontario this year was sent out while Police were searching for an 11-year-girl who had gone missing with her father. The Amber Alert tragically ended after the body of the girl was discovered in her father's basement apartment in Brampton. The father was arrested in Orilla by OPP.
