B.C. leaders ready to face off during only debate

The leaders of British Columbia's three main parties are to face off today in their only debate of the snap provincial election.

NDP Leader David Eby, interim Conservative leader Lorne Doerkson and Green Leader Emily Lowan are to debate from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m., with all major television and radio networks broadcasting the event to be moderated by Angus Reid Institute president Shachi Kurl.

Hundreds of physicians would not practise in Alberta if the province leaves Confederation, a survey by the organization that represents doctors in the province indicates.

Of the 1,649 physicians surveyed by the Alberta Medical Association, 15 per cent said they would continue living and practising in Alberta if it became an independent country, and less than a quarter were uncertain about what they would do.

Now, the 26-year-old from the Saanich Peninsula is leading British Columbia's Green Party in a snap election campaign and running to represent the same region where she camped, snorkelled and crabbed in her childhood.
