Whether you grew up as the son of a prominent political figure, or in a small town making YouTube videos, these stars show that your dreams really can come true, no matter where in Canada you come from!
Ben Mulroney
As the son of former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, Ben is no stranger to the spotlight. Huge events and celebrity meetings were a huge part of his childhood, and have continued into his adult life.
After attending post-secondary, Mulroney would end up landing a job as the host of etalk in his mid-20s, where he would work for 18 years before recently stepping down amid his wife's white privilege scandal.
Justin Bieber
For most of his childhood, Justin Bieber was just a kid from Stratford, Ontario who loved to sing. According to Billboard, he was discovered by manager Scooter Braun back in 2007 after posting some videos on YouTube.
At just 15 years old, Bieber was working on his debut EP, My World. Now, in 2020, he has five studio albums and a very successful career under his belt.
Jacob Tremblay
At just 13 years old, Vancouver's own Jacob Tremblay has some impressive credits to his name.
IMDb notes that Tremblay made his debut back in 2013 on the TV show Motive and has since appeared in American Dad!, Good Boys, The Twilight Zone, and more.
Dan Levy
Dan Levy has made a name for himself over the years as the co-creator and star of Schitt's Creek, but as it turns out, he got a taste for the spotlight at a much earlier age.
IMDb credits his first role as Robbie in the TV movie Degrassi Goes Hollywood in 2009.
Dan is the son of beloved Canadian actor Eugene Levy, and just like his father, he pursued acting when he was quite young.
Avril Lavigne
According to Biography, Avril Lavigne was signed back in 2000 as a young teenager and took over the music scene shortly after.
Over the span of her 20-year career, Lavigne has released six studio albums and influenced some of today's biggest names, such as Billie Eilish.
Drake
You may know Drake as one of the biggest names in the Canadian rap game today, but his career actually started long before that.
IMDb notes that in 2001, the Toronto-born celebrity landed the role of Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi, which he would go on to play until 2009 before taking off in the music industry.
