Events Happening In Ontario This Labour Day Long Weekend

The Labour Day weekend is full of events around the province worth checking out.

There’s not many things better than a long weekend. Getting an extra day off always makes a massive difference to your work week.

The Labour Day long weekend may even be the best long weekend of the year because it’s always jammed with events across the province. So if you’re looking for something to do at the end of summer this is your guide in Ontario.

6. Canada's Largest Ribfest

If all you want to do is eat this long weekend - and aren't vegan or vegetarian - then you'll want to check out Canada's largest ribfest, happening at Spencer Smith Park in Burlington Ont. this weekend.

As you can imagine there will be plenty of ribs to eat here, as well as live music and even a DJ night. The best part is it's 100 per cent free to enter, you will have to pay for ribs though. All the info on the festival can be found on its website here.

5. Perth Fair

Via Perth Fair

Most fairs have some pretty standard things, but the 173rd annual Perth Fair is going all out with some events you don't get at your normal fair experience.

Things like, a demoliton derby, a lawnmower race and a performance by a group of dogs called the Wolfjocks make this unlike any other fair you've ever been to. The fair takes place in Perth Ont. and you can find all the info on its website here.

4. Brampton Food Truck Festival

If you're looking for some good street meat to pig out on during the long weekend then look no farther than the Brampton Food Truck Festival.

The festival runs Saturday and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. at Chinguacousy Park in Brampton. There will be somewhere between 30 and 50 different food trucks, including some with vegetarian options. It's the first time a Brampton has ever had a massive food truck festival ever, and all the details can be found here.

3. Summer Sundown

Via Blue Mountain Village

If you're looking for a way to send summer off with a bang you may want to check out the Summer Sundown event at Blue Mountain Village this weekend.

The even runs every day of the long weekend and features live music, gondala rides and the coolest part: fireworks over the mountain. There will also be plenty of hiking and biking oppurtunites as well if you like being outdoors. You can find all the info you need on the Blue Mountain Village website.

2. Mac and Cheese Festival

If you're living in Toronto and aren't interested in traveling all over the province to get to some event then fret not, there's a Mac and Cheese festival happening in the east end of the city all weekend long.

Admission is by donation here, with proccedes going to help Epilepsy Toronto, and of course you'll have to pay for food but it's totally worth it. This is North America's largest Mac and Cheese festival and it's on all weekend long at Woodbine Park. All the info you need can be found on the Mac and Cheese Festival website here.

1. CNE Air Show

We'd be remiss if we didn't include this one in the top spot. It's the most iconic way to end the summer in the province.

As usual the CNE will be putting on its annual airshow this long weekend, with a particulary special show this year. For the first time in 15 years the United States Airforce Thunderbird squadron will be part of the show, their only event outside of the States all year. As usual you can expect the Canadian Snowbird squadron to also be a part of the show, as well as many other planes.

Tickets for the event can be found on the website for the EX, but we all know if you live in the city you're likely to see at least one plane whether you go to the show or not.

No matter what you do try to enjoy the last real weekend of summer.
