7 Beaches In Florida Without Seaweed Right Now
Just seen months ago, Florida emerged from the ragged end of a 14-month long toxic algae bloom which devastated beaches, leaving thousands of dead fish and mountains of seaweed on Florida beaches. It almost became rare to see a Florida beach without seaweed for a while.
Ride Tide algae off the Gulf Coast are actually a year-round affair, but their microscope colonies are usually so small, that no one really notices. Every once in awhile, though, usually in late summer to early fall, the algae population close to shore literally explodes into something called a bloom.
The bloom travels by winds and currents, so it can be difficult to tell how long it will last and where it will end up next. If you’re planning a beach trip and trying to avoid these stinking, toxic mounds of sea debris, we’ve made up a list of Gulf beaches with no debris right now according to information provided by visitbeaches.org.
