The 9 Best Hills For Tobogganing In Halifax
It may look like there’s no snow on the ground right now, but over the next two weeks Halifax is forecasted to be hit with some major blizzards. What better way to get outside and enjoy a fresh snowfall then by bombing down one of your favorite local toboggan hills?
The HRM is covered in hilly parks and common areas that make for speedy terrain when covered in snow, so grab your magic carpet and head out to one of the spots we've listed below in no particular order.

1. Fort Needham Park
Located in the North End near Gottingen and Young Street, the Tobogganing at Fort Needham is more suited to a younger crowd on account of the smaller hills. At least they’re easy to climb back up after each run!
2. Flinn Park
Right on the side of the North West arm near the Armdale roundabout, this West End hill provides lots of jumps and twists for the more experienced sledders looking to try and catch a bit of air.
3. Gorsebrook Field
Located behind the school at South Street and Robie you’ll find a super hilly park that makes for the perfect tobogganing terrain when there’s lots of snow.

4. Citadel Hill
One of the most obvious tobogganing spots in the city, and for good reason! Pick a side of Citadel and let it rip next time there’s a massive snowfall in the HRM. The only disadvantage of this hill is that sometimes you can pick up too much speed, but is there even such a thing?
5. Oakfield Provincial Park
If you’re looking to take a bit of a drive, head over to this secluded park up by the airport for an afternoon of awesome sledding.

6. Dartmouth Commons
Start up by the gazebo and explore the Dartmouth Commons looking for sweet hills to speed down next time there’s a big snow fall.
7. The Mother Hill
Located behind Mount Saint Vincent where the Mother House once stood, this Clayton Park hill provides a longer sledding journey through the beautiful MSVU campus and surrounding subdivision.
8. The Old Ashburn Golf Course
Up near Joseph Howe Drive and Mumford Road you can find a couple low key tobogganing hills that won’t have you spinning out of control.

9. Merv Sullivan Park a.k.a The Pit
This North End field near Novalea Drive and Leeds Street is by far considered the best tobogganing in Halifax considering how steep the hill is and how quickly visitors can pick up speed!
