Someone Keeps Stealing People's Car Tires At This One GO Station & It's Becoming An Issue

Pickup trucks are the ones being targeted.

There has been some very shady activity at Burlington's Aldershot GO station lately. Specifically, in the parking lot, after five reported thefts of truck tires in the past few weeks. The Aldershot GO station tire thefts have left commuters stunned when they come back from work to find their vehicle propped up by cinder blocks, with the wheels completely removed. "Halton police are actively investigating these thefts and are certainly looking into the strong possibility that they are related," Const. Ryand Anderson told the CBC.

All five thefts spanned from the final weeks of August and into the first week of September. They happened at both the north and south lots of the GO station. So far, police have no leads on possible suspects.

Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins has said that the company has security cameras at all stations, but Metrolinx has about 75,000 parking spots and, "you cannot have eyes on all of your spots all day long." The parking lots are generally not patrolled regularly.

Metrolinx parking lots are huge, and usually completely full of parked vehicles, making it easy for someone to blend in and hide while performing these thefts. It is believed that a team of people are doing this. Metrolinx is working hard to ensure that this chain of thefts comes to an end. However, they are staying tight-lipped about their strategy, so as not to tip off the thieves on what to look out for when they set off on their next escapade.

Global News reported that the dates of the other four thefts happened on Aug. 21 and 29 in the south parking lot, and on Sept. 3 and 4 in the north parking lot. The Reddit user that took the photo of the truck with stolen tires said in the thread that it was taken at the newer lot on the south side, where there is no ticket window and no full-time personnel.
