Amazon Canada's Shipping Is About To Get Even Faster, Thanks To Their New 1 Million Square Foot Facility
Amazon Canada has quickly become one of the fastest online retailers to deliver packages to its customers. While as of right now that may not be a hard thing to achieve considering how backed up Canada Post continues to be even after the strike, no one can beat Amazon Canada's insanely efficient delivery.
Somehow, it seems Amazon Canada's shipping is about to get even faster. Meaning more same day and one-day shipping availability for Canadians, thanks to a new Canadian location that's been announced by the tech giant.
The news comes after Amazon announced that they would be opening a new fulfillment facility in Alberta. The new centre that is set to be located in Leduc will join the pre-existing Rocky View County facility in being one of Alberta's two Amazon facilities.
This facility will specifically focus on packing and shipping larger items that customers order such as patio furniture, outdoor equipment and other products such as bicycles. Meaning that for larger items, Canadian customers won't have to wait as long for the orders to ship and deliver considering there will be a new fulfillment centre within the country able to send out the orders rather than resorting to facilities based in the United States.
As of now, the facility is expected to be finished and ready to go by 2020 and will be a whopping one million square feet. The massive facility is expected to create "600 good paying jobs with great benefits" according to the director of Amazon Canada operations, Glenn Sommerville. The new jobs will join the Amazon wave of 1,500 jobs that the Rocky View County facility has already created.
Leduc County seems just as excited as Canadians are considering the mayor publicly announced on behalf of the county that they all "couldn't be more proud that Amazon has selected Leduc County as the location of its newest fulfillment centre in Canada."
