An Ottawa Delivery Driver Was Filmed Fighting A Woman In Broad Daylight (VIDEO)

Packages went flying!

This is not what they mean when they say packages should be handled with care. A huge altercation broke out in the capital when an Ottawa van driver attempted to lock a woman out of his vehicle on Monday, May 4. The two were seen pulled over in the Sandy Hill area having a fight when packages started flying onto the street.

According to a nearby witness, the fight started around 2 p.m. and it didn’t take long for the sidewalk situation to escalate.

The driver, who allegedly works for Intelcom Express according to a social media post sharing the video, was attempting to lock the woman out of his vehicle.

“He threw her phone onto the street and locked her out. She got in and locked him out after. Then he dragged her out. You know it was serious because she lost her shoes in the altercation,” the witness who shared the video online told Narcity via email.

“I had to call the police when they were getting a little too rough with each other and Amazon packages were being thrown left and right.”

What's more, the 9-1-1 operator allegedly told the witness that this wasn’t the first call of the day regarding this particular van.

The situation was quickly taken over by authorities.

“The guy came back after looking for the packages and the cops were waiting for him. I spoke with the police officers and they were courteous and appreciative of the call,” the witness explained.

Still, this isn't something you expect to see when a delivery van pulls up outside.

So if your package is a little late to arrive, it might not just be the Christmas level of deliveries happening right now.

In an email, Intelcom Express told Narcity: "As soon as Intelcom became aware of the video, we began an internal investigation, gathered the facts, and it quickly led us to identify the delivery associate. The delivery associate’s contract with our Business Partner in the Ottawa area was immediately terminated.

"Intelcom takes any form of verbal or physical violence very seriously and does not tolerate any violent behavior from employees or delivery associates.comment on the video and the company confirmed it is looking into the matter."

In the clip, you can hear the person apparently behind the camera saying: “You might have to call the police, there’s a huge altercation...you have to call the police, seriously.”

At least someone was watching.

This isn't the first time a fight like this has been captured on a smartphone.

Just last month, for example, a gun was pulled out at a Toronto Loblaws as social-distancing shopping turned out to be too much pressure for some.

And prior to that, a fight on the TTC took an aggressive turn.

You never know what you're going to see.
