Ariana Grande's Boyfriend Pete Davidson Responds To People Saying His Mental Illness And Past Drug Abuse Make Him Toxic
Just yesterday the news circulated about Ariana Grande clapping back to a Mac Miller fan on Twitter who accused her of heartlessly breaking up with the rapper and moving on to a brand new guy seemingly ASAP. In her response back to the twitter user, Ariana revealed intimate details of her 'hard and scary' time with Mac and called the relationship toxic.
In light of her reasoning for ending things with her 'The Way' co-star, many were quick to jump on her new boyfriend Pete Davidson saying that he also would make for a toxic boyfriend.
This all stems from the fact that Pete has been open about his borderline personality disorder and his battle with substance abuse.
this 'people with mental illness are incapable of having loving relationships' thing only further pushes the stigma that plagues living w/ a mental illness can y'all leave pete davidson alone now
Many are comparing Pete to Mac since Ariana's reason for leaving her boyfriend of two years was due to his struggles around his sobriety. However Pete was tolerating none of those comparisons and penned a letter on his Instagram story addressing the negative narrative that his mental health and past made him a toxic partner.
Starting with, "normally I wouldn't comment on something like this cause like f*ck you. But I've been hearing a lot of 'people with bpd can't be in relationships' talk."
He continues saying, " I just wanna let you know that's not true. Just because someone has a mental illness does not mean they can't be happy and in a relationship. It also doesn't mean that person makes the relationship toxic.
Pete then opens up on how he has and continues to seek treatment for his for his bipolar disorder and it's changed his life for the better.
In Pete's conclusion he says, "I just think it's f--ked up to stigmatize people as crazy and say that they are unable to do stuff that anyone can do. It's not their fault and it's the wrong way for people to look at things. I may be crazy but at least I'm aware of it and not afraid to be honest about it and I'm not hiding behind a Twitter or Instagram account."
"I'm simply writing this because I want everyone out there who has an illness to know that it's not true and that anyone who says that is ill and full of s--t. Mental illness is not a joke it's a real thing. There's kids out there killing themselves. And it's f--king horrific. For all those struggling I want you to know that I love you and I understand you and it is going to be okay. That's all. Love to everyone else."
So far many have come to Pete's defense and have given him major props for being so honest and open about living a normal life with a mental health diagnosis.
pete davidson is one out of like three celebrities who have bpd so for yall to insult him and call him a crackhead and shit really affects how us borderlines are seen and further stigmatizes bpd pic.twitter.com/CH2l7oR4mv
PETE DAVIDSON IS A FUCKING SWEETHEART AND JUST BECAUSE HES HAD PROBLEMS WITH DRUGS AND HIS MENTAL HEALTH DOESNT MEAN HE CANT TREAT OTHERS WITH LOVE AND CARE pic.twitter.com/aEKJVUePXr
Idk what you all are smoking- Pete Davidson is a successful, hilarious, HOT tv star and comedienne who seems like he’d be a fantastic match for Ariana. pic.twitter.com/WrESUIUORG
And for those worried that Pete is upset by the haters, no worries because he followed up his statement with the video below of him screaming 'EHHHHHH Scotty' - so it looks like he's not taking the drama too seriously.
