You Can Solve Mysteries Like Hermoine At This Austin Witches & Wizards Event This Spring
Growing up, kids are always playing games and watching movies that involve mystery solving. Playing the role of a detective gave us such a rush and still does, though the opportunities to play like one these days are a bit low. Austinites should be feeling pretty lucky right about now because CluedUpp's Witchcraft and Wizardry event is coming to Austin this April for a day of magic-themed sleuthing.
CluedUpp, which specializes in city-wide geogaming, is bringing a mystery unlike any other to Austin's city limits this spring.
Witchcraft and Wizardry is taking place on Saturday, April 25, starting at 10 a.m. for those who want to participate and prove that they're the ultimate detectives.
A limited amount of tickets are left, though the way they're sold makes it easy for plenty of people to participate.
Tickets are $48 per team (since you'll have to work with others) and you can have a maximum of six people per team. That's $8 per person if you split the ticket six ways!
A minimum of two people are required per team, so if you're wanting to sleuth with a smaller group of people that's fine as well. However, the more, the merrier and the cheaper it'll be for everyone.
After you've purchased your ticket, it's time to prep for a day of witchcraft, wizardry, and spell-binding detective experience.
Two weeks prior to the day of the event, ticketholders will receive an email that includes a pre-game briefing. The briefing will have the start location, which is a highly kept secret among participants.
You should plan to arrive at the start location between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the day of the event. There are expected to be 100+ teams participating in the event, so we recommend getting there as early as possible.
The more of a head start you have, the better!
You'll start the game by accessing CluedUpp's entirely self-guided and award-winning app to navigate around Austin with your team.
From there it's up to you and your team to solve the mystery, take the glory, and win the prizes!
Costumes inspired by witches and wizardry are highly recommended for the day. If you and your team do come dressed up, we can assure you you won't be the only ones dressed in awesome costumes.
Prizes will be awarded to those who win in categories such as best fancy dress, fastest team, best team name, and more.
Start thinking of an awesome team name ASAP, you're going to want to have a good one for when the winners (possibly you) are announced!
