6 European Destinations That Are The Best For Canadian Travellers In 2020
There's nothing like escaping to Europe for an amazing vacation. With so many things to see and do, these are the best European destinations for Canadians in 2020. You'll definitely want to start planning your next trip right now.
If you're already daydreaming about your next getaway, we've got the perfect European destinations for you.
Expedia wants to make sure Canadians get the best out of their travels so the travel company released its 2020 Trends in Travel Report and a bunch of European cities are the new destinations to watch.
"It's time to dust off your bucket list and start adding some new places. These countries each had three or more cities that appeared on our list of fastest-growing destinations, based on flight demand," according to Expedia.
Based on hotel and flight demand from Canada on Expedia.ca in 2019 as compared to 2018, these destinations are new fan favourites and Expedia's ones to watch for 2020.
Spain & Canary Islands
There are five trending cities but they're not what you'd usually expect like Barcelona or Madrid. Mallorca's amazing beaches with clear blue water and the architecture of Bilbao, surrounded by green mountains make them must-visit destinations in 2020.
The best places to go are Palma de Mallorca, Seville, Valencia, Malaga and Bilbao.
Germany
Germany isn't just about Oktoberfest and beer and sausages. You can always go for those reasons but you should check out their stunning castles, historical artifacts like the Berlin Wall and beautiful public parks.
The best cities to visit are Cologne, Hannover, Berlin, Munich and Dusseldorf.
Italy
While popular spots in Italy like Rome and the Amalfi Coast are always good places to visit, for 2020 try something different. You can check out other places worth seeing like the colourful markets in Palermo or a soccer game in Naples.
The best places to go are Palermo, Catania, Milan, Naples and Florence.
Portugal
The demand for Portugal just won't let up, according to Expedia. With castles, beautiful beaches, great food and rich history, it's no wonder people want to jet off to Portugal.
Some of the best cities to visit are Funchal, Ponta Delgada and Faro.
Switzerland
Switzerland has a great mix of both nature and urban centres for you to enjoy during a trip. You can explore the alps in the great outdoors and then take in the architecture in city centres.
Zurich, Basel and Geneva are the best cities to visit.
Poland
Who doesn't love perogies? Get them right from the source in Poland and then enjoy historic cities, beautiful fresh lakes and small villages.
A trip to Poland is also good for the wallet and you'll get the most out of the Canadian dollar. A single Polish złoty is worth CA$0.34.
A trip to Katowice, Poznan and Warsaw will be worth it.
Travelling in Canada and the U.S. can often be budget-friendly and super fun, but you won't want to miss out on some of the best destinations in Europe in 2020.
