She threw out the first pitch at a Jays game.

It's no secret that Bianca Andreescu is a major Toronto sports fan, having lived in Mississauga for a good portion of her life. She got to experience one of the biggest honors for any Toronto team fanatic when she was asked to throw out the first pitch at a Jays game. Let's just say that Andreescu could have played baseball instead of tennis because she threw a heater!

She has now won against both Williams sisters in different tournaments.

Venus and Serena Williams are two of the most famous tennis players of all time, having won a combined 30 Grand Slam singles titles and four Olympic gold medals. Bianca Andreescu has played and won against both of them. Her victory over Venus came at the 2019 ASB Classic in New Zealand, where she won 11 games in a row.

Her favorite tennis player is Simona Halep.

While Andreescu reps Toronto hard, she also spent part of her childhood growing up in Romania, where both of her parents are originally from. It makes sense, then, that her favorite player would be Simona Halep, another tennis pro who hails from Romania.

Andreescu told Tennis Canada, "I like her because many people say I have a similar game style, and I love the determination she plays with. I want to model my game after her."

She has a special victory ritual of lying down on the court.

Every athlete has their own ritual for celebrating a victory, and Bianca Andreescu is no exception. After making it to the final round at the Rogers Cup, Bianca laid down on the court, looking absolutely overcome by her hard work and victory. She did the same thing when she won at Indian Wells.

Serena Williams called her an "old soul."

After the heartbreaking moment when Serena Williams had to withdraw from her final match at the Rogers Cup, she and Andreescu shared a special moment where they expressed their admiration and respect for each other on the court. In a press conference following the match, Williams said, "I'm officially a fan," and, "She's an old soul. She's only 19. She definitely doesn't seem like a 19-year-old. Her words on the court. Her game. Her attitude. Her actions." High praise!

She's taking a well-deserved break after her victory.

After a historic win like this one, it makes sense that Andreescu would want to be ready for the next big tournament. On Aug. 11, she withdrew from the Western and Southern Open, but will appear again in the U.S. Open.
