Admission Is FREE To One Of Florida's Most Enchanting Crystal-Clear Springs
Florida's tropical weather makes water adventures possible almost all year-round. In the Florida Panhandle alone, there are lots of hidden lakes and rivers where you can cool down during a hot day. If you're looking for blue springs in Florida, Morrison Springs is one of the most popular diving spots surrounded in a 161-acre park where you will have clear underwater views like no other place.
From green-colored springs to root-beer looking ones, Florida offers divers a little bit of everything. Morrison Park's highlight is the 250-foot diameter spring pool that produces an estimated 48 million gallons of crystal clear water each day.
The park features large wooden boardwalks overlooking the springs, a diving dock and a boat ramp where you can launch the kayaks and paddleboards.
This hidden paradise is best known for the sinkholes surrounding the springs. There are three cavities that allow Morrison's cold water to surface from the underground aquifer. The deepest sinkhole measures approximately 300 foot in depth and terminates in an underground chamber of unknown dimensions.
According to a Trip Advisor user, "The underwater cavern was absolutely amazing and I even got to his 90 feet inside of it. There is a good current coming out of it so stay to the right of it and hold on to something when you are coming out."
The chilly water is refreshing during any warm day and the views are unbeatable. Though water can get murky during rainy season, Morrison Park is a good escape from tourist spring attractions.
If you are not into snorkleing, you can also enjoy a tan session on a kayak. You can clearly see the bottom at 15 feet deep and enjoy the view of the forest while navigating the waters. It is a nice respite from populated beach areas. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset and is free of charge to explore.
