Sudden House Explosion Leaves 5-Year-Old Ontario Child With Serious Injuries (PHOTOS)

3 adults were also hurt in the blast.

A shocking incident in the GTA today left a five-year-old child with serious injuries. A sudden Brampton house explosion ripped through a property on Tuesday afternoon, causing alarm and the presence of numerous emergency services. Peel Regional Police subsequently sent out a tweet this afternoon letting the public know that neighbouring houses have been evacuated and the scene is under control.

CP24 reports the explosion happened at a house in the Humberwest Parkway and Cottrelle Boulevard area, on Herdwick Street.

A call was made at about 1:26 p.m. to Peel Regional Police and they quickly arrived at the scene to find one side of the residence had been heavily damaged.

Three people suffered minor injuries while a five-year-old child was transported to a nearby hospital with apparently serious injuries.

Looking at the pictures from the scene, though, it's a relief more injuries weren't suffered.

The explosion seems to have been felt the most toward the back of the property and it's clear there's significant structural damage.

Brampton Fire and Emergency Services also arrived at the scene, alongside Peel Paramedics to assess the situation.

"I heard like a 'pop' sound and I heard the fire crews go by," one witness told CityNews.

As of now, there is no word yet as to what exactly caused the explosion.

"We'll be investigating the scene together and we will update once we have something," Const. Iryna Yashnyk said, as quoted by CP24.
