Calgary's Terrifying Haunted House Traps You Inside A Sanitarium This Fall
October is right around the corner and we basically already have our Halloween costumes picked out because we're so excited for the spooky season to arrive! Haunted Calgary has expanded massively making 2019 their most scary season yet and you're going to want to put this place on your Halloween bucket list. This famous Calgary Haunted House that's been running for over 25 years has three all-new terrifying attractions: Cesspool, Deep Sleep Hotel and the Sanitorium or, aka, sanitarium.
It's the haunted sanitarium that's got us freaked out, especially after we heard about a probably haunted sanitarium in B.C. that you can escape from in real life. Inside this haunted house, you'll "bear witness to the deepest, most depraved recesses of the human mind" and it sounds like something straight out of American Horror Story: Asylum.
The Deep Sleep Hotel and Cesspool haunted houses are similarly spooky and they might make your skin crawl. The Deep Sleep Hotel is where you can check in but you might not check out and Cesspool will bring you face to face with whatever emerged from the sewers. Gross!
Christine Campbell, Creative Director of Haunted Calgary spoke to Narcity via email and said that this year they've moved to the New Horizon Mall in Balzac near CrossIron Mills. The new location has allowed them to majorly expand their haunted offerings this season and we can't wait to get scared out of our minds.
More than your average haunted house, Haunted Calgary is an "immersive theatrical experience" full of detailed sets, disturbing props and actors playing terrifying characters. If you only make it out to one haunted house this year, make it this one because it's actually a social enterprise run by volunteers with partial proceeds going to local charities. You can feel good about being scared.
Plus, the fun doesn't stop after Halloween. There are a ton of unique themed nights and activities in November like Glowstick Night where all the lights are out and you go through the haunted houses by the light of a glowstick and Hell Night where you have to survive the zombies coming after you.
