You Can Hunt Ghosts With Real Ghostbusters In Ottawa This Weekend

Who ya gonna call?

Let's be real: We're all about haunted houses this time of year. Ottawa's nothing short of places that are haunted, but one particular hotspot is Watson's Mill in Manotick.

On Saturday, Oct. 15, you can explore the haunted mill with real paranormal investigators. Never mind Saunders Farm. Get that pen out and sign that disclaimer form because you're entering the real deal here.

The tour takes place from 7:00pm - 12:00am with the Haunted Ottawa Paranormal Society. You'll be part of an ongoing investigation of the supposed ghost that's been haunting the mill for over a hundred years.

Tickets are $45 and there are only 20 spots available, so book ASAP. The Haunted Ottawa Paranormal Society will provide all the materials needed for ghost hunting: thermometers, electromagnetic field meters and all that liking. They'll teach you how to use all these before you go off on your own investigation in the night.

The story behind the ghost of the mill is a tragic one. Joseph Merrill Currier, owner the mill in Manotick, had fallen head over heels for his second wife Anne Crosby. They had gone on a honeymoon after a quick marriage and when they came back to Manotick he showed her his mill on a fateful February day. Unknowingly, her dress got caught in one of the rotating shafts in the mill during their tour, which flung her against a support post. She died instantly. Joseph left Manotick shortly after, never to return.

Some say that on misty evenings, you can still see the ghost of Anne in the windows of the mill's second floor.

Oh and don't worry if you think you'll be scared. There's a "timeout" area at the mill that can be used for frightened guests.
