This Hidden Grove In Canada Is Straight Out Of A Tim Burton Movie

You won't find trees like this anywhere else in the world!

A unique and unusual wonder lies hidden away near the town of Hafford, Saskatchewan. Canada's 'Crooked Bush' Grove is a grove of aspen trees with eerily twisted limbs. Accessible by a boardwalk, these remarkable trees have been called a ‘botanical mystery’ and named one of the 54 Wonders of Canada by CBC’s Morningside show.

While all the surrounding trees have grown perfectly normal, the aspen trees developed a genetic mutation, causing their branches to bend at odd angles. The effect is truly spooky, and visitors flock from all around to witness this bizarre sight.

Rick Simmonds owns the property where Crooked Bush is located. He estimates the trees might have grown during the 1930s. He says he visited the grove many times throughout his life, but some aren't so eager to venture there. One woman finds the trees far too creepy, and won't go near the place. He also mentioned that animals stay clear of the grove, including a herd of cows that would graze everywhere but near the trees.

Over the years, local stories about the strange and mysterious grove have circulated. One such story involves a visitor who set down his drink on one of the gnarled limbs, only to find moments later that it had completely disappeared.

Since the popularity of Crooked Bush began to grow, Mr. Simmonds installed a boardwalk to protect the roots from crowds. He also ensures that the area is kept clean and free of litter. There is no fee associated with visiting the grove, which makes it a great day trip for you and your friends!

Be sure to plan your route before leaving for Crooked Bush, as it can be tricky to find. The area is small, so don't plan on doing a long hike. There is a bench available if you'd like to pack a picnic lunch, or simply sit and enjoy the sounds of nature.
