Canadians Are Putting Their Sticks Out For Humboldt One Year After The Deadly Crash

Canadians are putting their sticks out for Humboldt on the anniversary of the deadly crash that claimed 16 lives.

Today, April 6 marks exactly one year since 16 lives were tragically lost in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash. To commemorate and remember the lives the lost, Canadians are putting their sticks out for Humboldt, once again on the anniversary of the deadly crash.

It was one year ago to the day that the bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team and their staff was hit by a transport truck in Saskatchewan. We now know that the truck was driven by Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, who failed to stop at a stop sign, causing the horrific crash. Sidhu has since been sentenced to eight years in prison.

All of the victims of the crash, including the 13 who were injured are being remembered by Canadians today, who are once again putting their sticks out for Humboldt.

In the aftermath of the crash, to pay tribute to the victims and families, Canadians began leaving hockey sticks outside of their front doors. Now on the anniversary of the tragic accident, Canadians are reigniting the commemoration once again.

Across the country, hockey sticks are being put out to remind everyone that we are Humboldt Strong and to show support for the victims and their families on what is likely a difficult day.
