Controversial Ontario Candidate Faith Goldy's Ad Campaigns Are Banned From Airing And Some Canadians Are Seriously Split Over It

Rogers Media and Bell Media have banned her ads from airing.

Both Bell Media and Rogers Media have refused to air the political ad campaigns of Toronto Mayor candidate Faith Goldy, who is a controversial candidate known for her extremist views and has been called a mix of Donald Trump and Tomi Lahren. In response to the media shutout, Goldy took to Twitter to denounce the media companies in Canada and express her outrage.

It all started when Bell Media banned her ads from being aired on their channels, which prompted Goldy to sue the media company. It wasn't long until another media company followed in their footsteps, though it is unclear if Goldy will be pressing legal charges again.

Rogers Media has recently refused to air her political ad campaigns.

Goldy took to none other than Twitter to express her frustrations and slam the press in Canada. In her tweet, she called the media "the enemy of the people". Check out the full tweet below.

Some Canadians are divided over her. Despite her controversy and extremist values, she appears to have some vocal supporters. Some people actually posted on Twitter and agreed with her. Check out some of the tweets from people who support her and are against the decision to ban her ads from airing.

I called Diane Farrow at @Rogers earlier today to praise her about your ads being aired on Monday. I now condemn her! The media is against the PEOPLE & has failed DEMOCRACY! #FaithForMayor #FaithForToronto #TOpoli

I’m voting for @FaithGoldy! I think people are curious as to the kind of people voting for her so I’ll just mention that I am a millennial female in my early 30s and live in downtown Toronto (Ward 10). #cdnpoli #FaithforMayor #TOelxn

Almost everyone I’ve talked to or heard from is voting Faith Goldy. She will win the popular vote, but the establishment will attempt to stop her from becoming mayor,

However, there are many others who are totally against the Toronto mayoral candidate and what she stands for. Some praised Rogers for not airing her campaigns.

Over the weekend, Rogers Media decided to refused to run Faith Goldy’s political ad and the National Post seems to have refused to run Conrad Black’s column of support for her. It has taken a long time for media standards to kick-in, but it seems to be finally happening.

Goldy has not yet taken legal action against Rogers Media and has not said whether she will do so. She has said last week that she has filed for a lawsuit against Bell Media. Goldy's lawyer spoke up on the issue. "This case is not merely a case about breach of contract. It is about how a democracy functions,” Clayton Ruby, a civil rights lawyer, told The National Post.

As for Bell's response to The National Post? "We believe we have the right to refuse advertising that contravenes our standards," said a Bell spokesperson.
