BC Police Arrested A Drunk Guy In A Bathrobe Driving A Golf Cart On The Road Last Night
It looks like some people are forgetting the basic rules of the road during this pandemic. According to a tweet by law enforcement, Delta police pulled over a golf cart that was being driven on the road. Once the got to the cart, the found that the driver was wearing a bathrobe and slippers at the time and blew way over the alcohol limit amount.
Delta police in B.C. are still having to put up with people’s shenanigans despite the pandemic that is going on.
While they may not be experiencing bizarre 911 calls like some departments, they are still dealing with the strange and unusual.
Cris Leykauf, the public affairs coordinator with the police service, spoke with Narcity about a video that the department had posted on twitter.
In the video, you can see a golf cart being towed as police lights light up a residential area.
"We want to emphasize that even though roads may be quieter than usual, all the normal rules still apply - and are being enforced. Officers towed this golf cart off city streets after the driver (wearing a bathrobe and slippers) blew a fail," explained the tweet.
According to Leykauf, a man was driving the golf cart at around 3 a.m. on April 14. He was in a residential area when officers spotted him on 52 Street near 12 Avenue.
The police noticed the golf cart, thought it was rather odd, and decided to pull the driver over to ensure they had the proper license and registration.
Upon walking to the vehicle, police were able to smell alcohol. They also noticed that the driver was legitimately wearing a bathrobe and slippers.
Of course, the police issued a breathalyzer to which the person failed.
Just like any other driver in this situation, the golf cart was towed and impounded for 30 days. The man will also not be allowed to drive for 90 days due to his questionable actions.
While it is a wild story, the Delta police are using this as a way to remind people that even though roads are quieter than normal, regular rules still apply and are being enforced.
On the same day, two other drunk drivers were taken off the road however, Leykauf admitted that this was “one of the more interesting stories.”
