Galaxy's Edge Smugglers Run Ride Will Now Have FastPass & Fans Are NOT Happy About It
Fans of The Force have had treat after treat in 2019 in the form of amazing Star Wars attractions and content from the opening of Galaxy’s Edge with all its amazing rides, to Baby Yoda taking over the internet. And the surprises are not slowing down in 2020 but depending on who you talk to, it’s not as sweet. The Smugglers Run ride at Disney's Galaxy's Edge will have FastPasses starting February 19, and Twitter is not happy about it.
The ride first debuted in August of last year and has room for six people at a time aboard the ship that takes off on a whirlwind mission.
While the ride still attracts extremely long lines, it is arguably not the star of Galaxy’s Edge.
Rise of the Resistance, which just opened in December, offers a virtual queue option that still fills up after about an hour of the park’s opening.
It seems that the introduction of FastPass to the Millennium Falcon ride is Disney’s way of trying to curb similar wait times, but the internet disagrees.
Many Twitter users were upset about the news, bemoaning potentially longer queues and insisting the rides worked fine without the system.
One Twitter user wasted no time finding the perfect reaction GIF to sum up his feelings about the announcement.
Another Twitter user urged the original poster to "keep their voice down" to try to deter people from actually using the system.
The extensive wait times for Rise have also been a topic of debate on Twitter, with some hardcore fans feeling it was well worth getting up at 6 a.m. for, and others insisting they’d rather skip it entirely.
Some users really don't believe that FastPass will solve the long wait problems, going as far as to say it was "the biggest mistake ever."
One user even feared that the new system would only slow down the queue even more.
Disney has also announced they may be ending the virtual line for Rise soon and adding that attraction to FastPass as well, but there have been no official comments on when that may happen.
Despite Twitter being in an upset over the FastPass news, it’s highly doubtful that this will negatively impact attendance at Galaxy’s Edge.
