This Video Of Doug Ford Dodging Questions Is All Kinds Of WTF
We all know how difficult it can be to answer uncomfortable questions. But no one has mastered the art of dodging awkward queries quite like Doug Ford. In the latest Doug Ford news, CTV Toronto's Queen's Park Bureau Chief Colin D'Mello engaged Premier Ford in a rather painful interview. D'Mello probed Ford on how much it cost Ontario taxpayers to have Ontario News Now broadcast Ford's trip to New York City this week.
The premier's visit to the Big Apple mainly consisted of meetings with business leaders to promote Ontario's vast range of the investment opportunities throughout the province, reports CTV News. Ford even took centre stage on the small screen by making a brief appearance on American news channel Fox News Business.
Ford reportedly explained that the visit to New York was one of the "most rewarding trips he has ever been on", commenting to reporters that he thought it was "a positive, positive trip."
The provincial government has not yet disclosed how much the New York City trip will be costing taxpayers, nor has it revealed how much it cost to bring along the Ontario News Now crew to film and interview Ford. Ontario News Now is a social media platform operated by the Progressive Conservative caucus staff.
The Ford government is encountering severe criticism for bringing Ontario News Now to New York without inviting any Canadian media platforms to join in on the visit. Ford told CTV News Toronto, "I make no apologies for getting the message out."
Here's the clip of Doug Ford's interview with D'Mello that's getting the most attention.
When D'Mello pushed Ford on revealing how much taxpayers were paying for Ontario News Now, Ford responded by merely stating "it’s not as much as the millions of dollars, tens of millions, that they’re going to invest."
The rest of Ontario seems to be less than impressed by the interview. Social media users have praised D'Mello for pushing Ford to answer the "tough questions" in an attempt to hold him accountable. These are just a handful of the many reactions that the clip has gotten so far:
The more I repeatedly watch the cringe-worthy exchange between Ford and D'Mello, the more I can't help but wonder: how much did it cost Ontario taxpayers? Ford's response (or lack thereof) leads Ontarians to believe that - like in most cases - ignorance is not bliss, especially when the answers directly influence how much money we'll be keeping in our wallets.
