A Canadian man has now confessed to strangling and drowning two pet cats. According to a report by CBC, an Edmonton man killed two cats and pleaded guilty to the crimes in court. He also admitted to willfully causing unnecessary pain, suffering and injury to those cats and at least one other. The man, 36-year-old James Ng, had killed one of the cats after becoming infuriated by the fact that it had hissed at him.
Ng had been living with his girlfriend in a downtown Edmonton apartment during the summer of 2017 when he committed the heinous crimes. Ng’s girlfriend had adopted two cats, Picasso and DaVinci, from Safe Team Animal Rescue. Both cats were described as “tame and friendly” by the rescue service.
Ng reportedly woke up at around 9:00 AM on the day of the killing and attempted to pet Picasso. However, the cat responded by hissing at him. Ng claims that the cat's reaction infuriated him, and he immediately began repeatedly hitting the cat on the head. Ng then took the animal to the bathtub, turned on the tap, and forced the animal's head under the water flow.

"The water hit the cat's face, and it could not breathe," a court document stated about the incident according to CBC. "Eventually, because the water was constantly running on the face of Picasso, the cat died of drowning."
Ng had reportedly attempted for a few minutes to save the animal by performing CPR but abandoned the effort after it appeared to be unsuccessful. Ng then tried to kill DaVinci in a similar fashion but gave up after the animal resisted him. Ng went back to bed an hour after the attacks.
DaVinci has since been returned to the cat rescue.
Ng also admitted to killing another one of his girlfriend’s cats, named Ms. P, by strangulation and drowning in 2015. Ng's girlfriend reportedly left him after discovering what he had done to her cats.

According to the Canadian Criminal Code, each of Ng’s crimes carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
Ng, who now lives in Toronto, appeared in court via video call to confess to his crimes. Members of the Safe Team Animal Rescue were also in court to hear his guilty pleas.
