Stop What You're Doing And Watch This Massive Emu Outrun Canadian Cops (VIDEO)

Just another normal day on the job.

Get ready for the story of the century. On Tuesday morning, an erratic emu was on the loose in Chemainus, B.C. This crazed, large bird wasn't stopping for anyone — including police officers! In fact, this emu was able to outrun Canadian cops! Thankfully, someone took a video of the entire incident because it’s honestly something you have to see to believe.

If we have learned anything, it’s that you should always have your phone or camera ready. You never know when the perfect meme or viral video moment is going to strike.

According to CBC News, this runaway emu hit the streets and ran to its freedom after escaping from a nearby farm. It was short-lived, but in the time that it was out, the emu caused quite the stir.

Ashley Tiefert, an eye witness to the bizarre incident, spoke with CBC News about the encounter. According to Tiefert, she first thought the large bird was an ostrich! After observing it little longer, she realized it was an emu.

But the bird was not alone. A police officer in a marked vehicle was following swiftly behind the bird as it literally stopped traffic.

Emu running away from police.

According to Tiefert, the incident took place in a small B.C. community known as Chemainus. It was around 10 a.m. on Tuesday when this occurred and Tiefert was taking her daughter to the city when she saw cars stopped on the road.

That when the nearly 100 lbs escaped emu ran into traffic from a nearby farm. RCMP were working tirelessly to catch it. You can see all of that in the video seen above.

I don’t know about you, but this is a police chase I would pay to see in person!

“I was surprised,” said Tiefert to Narcity. "I live just two seconds away and never seen an emu running down the road.”

Thankfully, Tiefert was fast-acting and was able to get a video of the encounter. In the video, you can see a line up of cars stopped as the emu runs as fast as he can from the RCMP. The patient police are following behind in a truck with the lights turned on.

While it was a hilarious sight, it eventually needed to come to an end. RCMP were able to come face to face with the bird but apparently, it was not happy!

According to CBC News, the bird became aggressive with the officers and animal control personnel. After about a half an hour altercation, officers needed to taser the bird in order to subdue it.

But don’t worry! The bird returned to its farm unharmed and just a little exhausted from the run.

This is not the first time RCMP officers have had to wrangle a wild animal. In July of this year, mounties in BC had to rescue an injured bald eagle that was unable and unwilling to leave an area in Logan Lake.

Also in July of this year, mounties in Kindersley, Sask, were called after a pig was on the loose and running through the streets! After an intense chase, the not so thrilled pig was caught and returned home.

I guess no call is too big, too small, or too ridiculous for RCMP officers.
