You Can Roam Among Thousands Of Fireflies This Spring At A Florida State Park
Catch a firefly this spring. Thousands of fireflies will glow at Blue Spring State Park next year for firefly season in Central Florida. You can see this stunning display beginning at twilight in March and April, when the fireflies gather to flash their lights, decorating the evenings.
The Firefly Takeover event will take place at Blue Spring State Park in Orange City, FL beginning in mid to late March 2020 and lasting a few weeks. Event-goers need a special pass to stay at the park after hours for the firefly show. The tour starts at dusk when the fireflies begin to twinkle.
Fireflies in the US are mostly seen in eastern states during the spring and summer, according to Travelers Today. Lightning bugs gather in the warm seasons to mate, putting on a spectacular light show. These firefly events can be seen in several southern states, including Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee.
Bring your camera to the event, but keep in mind that fireflies can be difficult to capture. If you're lucky, the photos can be breathtaking. You can see amazing photos of firefly events in southern states below:
More details about this spring's Firefly Takeover will be announced closer to the event. In recent years, event-goers have met at The Thursby House, a historic site and museum located at Blue Spring State Park, before beginning the tour around 8 p.m.
