So, So Many GO Trains Are Gonna Be Delayed This Week FML
If you plan on taking the GO Train some point this week, make sure to plan ahead to avoid some headaches during your commute. For daily commuters, this could be a long week. Several GO Train delays may be prominent across the GTA due to maintenance being carried out by Metrolinx from Sept. 9 to Sept.13, so plan accordingly!
Metrolinx crews are maintaining the tracks along GO Transit's Lakeshore West line between Mimico GO Station and Union Station, Barrie line between Allandale Waterfront and Bradford GO stations, and Kitchener line between Acton GO Station and Union Station.
While Mimico is thankfully just two stops and a 15-minute ride from Union, commuters on the Barrie and Kitchener lines will have it rather worse.
Allandale Waterfront is the end of the Barrie line, meaning that customers from the shore of Lake Simcoe in Barrie down through Innisfil and almost to Newmarket will likely be affected by the delays.
On the Kitchener line, meanwhile, the stretch of line between Union and Acton GO in Halton Hills will be affected, leaving customers travelling from places like Brampton and Etobicoke at the mercy of delays.
Fannie Sunshine, a media relations officer for Metrolinx, told Narcity that, although specific times have not yet been confirmed, "trains will need to operate slower through the work areas and delays of up to 15 minutes are possible."*
It's suggested that delays, where they happen, will likely be around 10 to 15 minutes so if you have somewhere you have to really be, make sure to leave early just in case.
According to GO: "Regular maintenance is essential so we can run our trains at higher speeds, keep service running consistently and make sure you're getting where you need to go safely."
So, if you're planning on travelling to or from the city at any point in the next five days, which sounds like a lot of people, you should plan ahead and expect a long ride as you make your way.
