Here's How You Can Support The Danforth Community After Last Night's Shooting
When a tragic accident or horrific shooting takes place it can really make you feel helpless. If there is anything we have learned in light of the recent terrorism and mass shootings around the world, and the van attack right here at home, it's that thoughts and prayers aren't enough.
What happened in Toronto's Danforth community last night was terrible, horrific, and completely senseless but thankfully there are other ways you can show support rather than just offering thoughts and prayers.
One way to offer direct support to the victims and those who were injured is to donate blood. Donated blood is used during surgery or to help patients who have experienced serious blood loss.
If you are healthy, at least 17 years old, and meet the other Canadian Blood Services requirements to donate, you are able to do so at any of the clinics across the city this week or even today.
If you are unable to donate blood for any reason, there are other ways you can show your support and one of them may be something you were already planning on doing.
As a move of solidarity with the Danforth community, Torontonians are now suggesting that everyone should go to the Taste of The Danforth festival to support the community and prove the resilience and strength of Toronto.

Hanging around Danforth for quiet sometime, knowing every intersection, corners from warden to broadview - it feels like someone attacked my home with their sick mind!
City needs to act now rather condemning it.

The festival celebrates the community, especially the Greek culture in the area with amazing food, music, and events to acknowledge Canada's multiculturalism.
Organizers of the event have spoken up following last night's shooting calling it senseless and say there is already a security plan in place and they will work with police to ensure the safety of the festival.
This year, Taste of The Danforth takes place from Friday, August 10th to Sunday, August 12th.
