This Endless Natural Stairwell In Waco Could Be The Craziest Hike In Texas
Ladders probably don't make you instantly think of a journey to an amazingly scenic spot but this "ladder" is going to change that. Jacob's Ladder in Waco is beautiful on its own but it also leads to a breathtaking outlook of the park. The ladder is great for anyone who happens to be looking for their next outdoor challenge.
Jacob's ladder was built in 1900 by a family that lived at the top of the hill. They needed a way to climb up and down and created the "ladder". Made up of 100 zig-zagged stairs, the ladder has become a great spot for a workout and a booming tourist attraction. There are several small stone benches that guests can sit on if they get tired on the way up and the wooden rails not only add to the beauty but also help you keep your balance.
Reconstruction over the years has helped the keep all the steps still functional but their zig-zag pattern makes them a workout to climb. The ladder is located in Cameron Park which means that once you're done climbing all those steps, you can hang come back down and hang out at any of the other fun things they have around. One of those things is the Cameron Park Zoo that is just a short walk away from the ladder.
Cameron Park is free to enter year-round. The park is open from 6 a.m. to midnight every day of the week.
Cameron Park is located at 2601 N University Parks Dr, Waco, TX 76708. For more information on the park, you can visit their website here.
