Jay-Z Breaks His Silence About His Infamous Elevator Fight With Solange

"You egged Solange on."

The world was beyond shook after that infamous elevator footage from the 2014 MET Gala leaked of Solange Knowles coming for Jay-Z. And more importantly, the footage that showed Beyonce doing no-thing about it. It caused SO many questions to pop up in our mind, but most importantly - what caused Solange to snap and why wasn't Beyonce trying to cool her sister down?

In an interview with Rap Radar, Jay-Z finally opened up about the whole ordeal after he touched on it lightly in 'Kill Jay-Z' off his 13th studio album, 4:44. The line reads: "You egged Solange on, knowing all along, all you had to do was say you was wrong."

Shortly after the incident, Solange, Jay-Z and Beyonce released a statement saying they "moved forward as a united family" after the "unfortunate incident." Though it wasn't officially stated by any party, Beyonce's Lemonade and lyrics on Jay-Z's latest release definitely suggest some foul play on the rapper's behalf. Who knows exactly how many Becky's there were over the course of their marriage?

Jay-Z went on record in saying that he and Solange are undeniably family. "We had one disagreement ever. Before and after we've been cool. I will protect her. That's my sister, not my sister-in-law. My sister. Period."

Though the elevator fight was definitely more than just a 'family scrap', Jay-Z insists that it hasn't changed his relationship with Solange at all. "We've always had a great relationship. I fought my brothers and argued with my brothers my whole life. It just so happens, who we are, these things go into a different space. But it ain't nothing."

Jay even went on to say that the scrap inspired some of their best music to date, alluding to Solange's A Seat At The Table. "We went into the elevator as great artists but I've always loved Solange's music. I think she was slept on until this last album.'

We're all wide awake now, Hov, no doubt about that.
