Justin Trudeau And His Kids Are Among The Countless Volunteers Filling Sandbags In Ottawa

Trudeau is among the high profile volunteers at the Ottawa River floods.

As the waters continue to rise in the Ottawa area, people from across Eastern Ontario have been flocking to the city to help in the flood prevention efforts. Even Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family have joined volunteers at the flood site at Constance Bay.

Trudeau and his two sons visited Constance Bay this morning, which is located north-west of Ottawa and along the Ottawa River. Currently, many areas and houses in Constance Bay are already flooded as the river level rises and rain continues to fall.

Trudeau visited with officials at the site to be briefed on the situation before visiting with the countless volunteers there and even helping to fill some sandbags himself. Trudeau's two sons, Hadrien and Xavier, also joined him and helped filling sandbags.

Prior to Trudeau's visit today, other volunteers helping in Constance Bay have included Environment Minister Catherine McKenna, the Ottawa 67's Hockey Team, and numerous students who cut class yesterday to help in the flood efforts. The military is also on hand in Constance Bay to provide flood relief. Premier Doug Ford also visited Constance Bay yesterday.

On top of the high-profile volunteers, countless residents of the town and people from all across Ontario have been heading to the Ottawa River to provide any help they can give.

Here are only some of the volunteers who have joined the fight against the floods:

Despite a large number of volunteers already at Constance Bay, more help is still needed. The Stittsville Lions Club appealed to people on Twitter today, looking for volunteers to help hand out water and snack to those helping in Constance Bay and other areas.

The flooding is expected to be even worse than the 2017 floods along the Ottawa River. It's predicted that this year the river level could rise by half a meter.
