This Ontario Waterfall Is So Massive It's Known As 'The Niagara Of The North'
It drops over some of the oldest fossils in the world!
Niagara Falls may be a renowned landmark in Southern Ontario, but the North has its own version of the iconic cascade.
Kakabeka Falls is a massive 40-metre-high waterfall located in Kakabeka Provincial Park outside of Thunder Bay, and it's the second-highest waterfall in all of Ontario.
Its enormous size inspired the nickname, the 'Niagara of the North,' and you can watch the powerful cascade tumbling over huge rock cliffs from lookout platforms.
The rock at the base of the falls is home to some of the oldest fossils in the world, dating back millions of years.
There are several nature trails in the park, and it's a beautiful place to plan a future hike at.
