Nick Nurse Reveals Surprising Details About Kawhi Leonard's "Funny" Personality In New Interview
He may have only been here for one season, but it didn't take long for Raptors fans to become obsessed with the basketball star. Now, it looks like Kawhi Leonard has not only won over Toronto's hearts, but his coach's too. Kawhi Leonard was called the "funniest guy" by Nick Nurse, the Raptors coach, in an interview recently.
Nurse recently spoke about Kawhi in an interview on Tuesday with ESPN's Zach Lowe on The Lowe Post, and what he had to say may surprise you. Not only is Kawhi a "fun guy", but according to his basketball coach, he's the "funniest guy". And Nurse also said that he's louder and more talkative than he seems.
“I think this thing about him not saying things and being so quiet is almost played out," Nurse said, according to Yahoo! News. "He was unbelievable yesterday at the parade speech, absolutely stole the show. He does that constantly, he’s the funniest guy in the film room because he waits and delivers the knockout punchline."
Nurse continued to praise the basketball star, who helped lead the Raptors to their championship title, and said he may be "misread" and is more talkative than you might think.
“He’s coachable, he talks to me a lot during the games about the games, in the huddles, in the film room — he talks a lot, we’ve probably misread him a bit in that way," said the Raptors coach.
He also added that they have a good relationship. “I know him a lot better. I really like the level of our relationship, the level of our communication,” Nurse said. “If we were going into that meeting tomorrow, he would certainly have a different feel for me.”
Although it looks like Kawhi has had a good run in Toronto, especially with his championship win, the biggest question on everyone's mind has not been answered yet – will Kawhi stay in Toronto? Kawhi himself has definitely stayed quiet on the topic and hasn't revealed much about his NBA future. However, according to recent reports, he's expected to sign with either the Raptors or the Clippers.
Raptors fans have been hoping with everything that Kawhi stays with the Toronto Raptors. He's had all types of gifts offered to him in order to persuade him to re-sign, such as a multi-million dollar Toronto penthouse and free Kraft Dinner for life.
