Lightning Struck The GO Transit Tracks And Now Service Is Completely Suspended
It's been a weird weather day for the GTA and it looks like it's just made commuting that much more difficult.

After lightning struck the tracks on Monday night, service had to be completely suspended on the Lakeshore West route, due to signalling problems. Trains are completely unable to move west from Union Station at this time.
The suspected strike happened by the Mimico GO station and crews are already on site to fix the signalling issue as soon as possible.
Currently, GO Transit is asking those who are able to, should use the TTC for commuting instead. Of course, if you live beyond the city limits, it may be more difficult to access transportation home.
Lakeshore West passengers: The signal problem is on-going and currently we are not able to run train service from Union Station westbound. Update to follow when we are able to start service again. We have reports that a lightning strike caused the signal problem.
As a result of #GOtrain service not running from Union, passengers travelling to Mimico, Exhibition, Danforth, Kennedy & Scarborough Town Centre can use the TTC. Show your GO Ticket or PRESTO Card to board at any staffed location.
The Lakeshore East line is also experiencing delays but service has not been suspended. If you're planning on taking a GO train this evening, it's important to remember that extra time may be necessary for your commute.
The dangerous weather watch in the GTA has ended but Toronto is still under watch for severe thunderstorms. Residents should be on the lookout for hail, thunder and lightning, plus torrential downpours which could cause flooding.
Remember to stay safe out their Torontonians! The weather may be unpredictable but don't make it worse by messing up your commute.
