This Spooky Nature Preserve In North Texas Is A Stunning Spot You Need To Visit

Stephen King would love this place!

Texas is quite amazing because you can go from super sunny and bright outdoors to down a nature preserve that is both a little sketchy and insanely beautiful. The Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area, also known as LLELA, has hiking trails, fishing, and tons of other great stuff. While the area is amazingly green and beautiful, it also has a certain spookiness.

There are trails that are so covered with trees the shade makes it feel like its almost night time even when the sun is right above you. Elm Fork is a great spot because you can go canoeing. At times Elm Fork can seem a little spooky with trees cascading over it making it a bit ominous. Aside from that, LLELA can be quite breathtaking. On one of the trails, you'll find a field of flowers. Most of the trails are around two and a half miles. Trails are only intended for hiking so biking and horseback riding are not allowed.

Camping starts at just $5 per car when its less than a group of 10 people. Rates do go up from there and depending on the number of people in the group can be up to $100.

Entry to the park is $5 per car on any given day. Summer hours extend until October 31 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Winter hours are from November 1 to February 28 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area is located at 201 E. Jones St., corner of Jones and Kealy streets, Lewisville, TX 75057.  For more information on the area, you can visit their website here.
