9 People Who Have Suddenly Gone Missing Across Alberta In 2019 (UPDATE)
UPDATE: Four of the missing people on this list have been found. Shane White and Thien 'Johnson' Tran were found alive. Barry Goodswimmer and Brian Gresl were found dead.
EARLIER: Living in Canada, it's easy to forget just how big our individual provinces are. For example, Alberta is 661,848 km², making it the sixth-largest province in the country. It also has the fourth-highest population at 4,067,175 people. Among those numbers, there is a considerable amount of missing people in Alberta.
In 2003, the Alberta RCMP launched a project known as KARE/Pro-Active, a subdivision of the K Division's missing persons unit. KARE was designed to help locate vulnerable missing persons within the province, and so far it has been a success. KARE also launched the Alberta Missing Persons and Unidentified Human Remains initiative in order to better coordinate with law enforcement officials across Canada and include Alberta missing persons in the national database.
These nine people all went missing within the last few months. If you have any information on their whereabouts, please contact either your local police or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
