Nunavut Has More Hopeless Romantics Than Anywhere Else In Canada, Says Their Google Searches
Regardless of what time of year it is, people across the country are coupled up and in love. However, when Valentine's Day rolls around there's a much bigger focus on matters of the heart, even on Google. By figuring out where people look up love-related terms the most, one organization has determined the most romantic places in Canada.
During the lead-up to the 14th, romantic holiday terms like "Valentine's Day," "love," "flowers," "love confession" and others were searched online more than other times of the year across Canada.
That being said, some places see a bigger uptick in these kinds of searches in January and February than others.
When it comes to romance, Picodi.com's analysis team looked at how people in every province and territory were putting these terms and questions on Google to find the most love-obsessed spots.
Then, Canada's 13 regions were ranked from most to least romantic.
As it turns out, one of the most romantic places in the country is also one of the coldest — Nunavut.
"It looks like cold temperature encourages Nunavut residents to cherish warm relationships more than others," Picodi.com stated in the rankings.
The territory is followed up by Ontario and Manitoba, where the increase in searches related to love and V-Day was the second and third highest in the country, respectively.
They were followed by Yukon, Alberta, provinces in Atlantic Canada and the Northwest Territories.
After that, B.C. and Saskatchewan take 11th and 12th place respectively in the rankings.
Even though those cheesy Hallmark Valentine's Day movies are often shot in B.C., it seems like the love doesn't spread from the film sets to residents.
However, the lowest interest in Valentine's Day and the least romantic spot in Canada goes to Quebec.
The province comes in last place because people just aren't searching for things related to love in January and February.
Whether or not people are looking up love, there are lots of ways to celebrate the holiday across Canada like donut bouquets, cookies with hot celebrities on them and even a "you're my lobster" biscuit box from Red Lobster.
