New Florida Law Requires High School Financial Literacy Class & People Have Mixed Reactions

The bill received a rather shocking response on social media. 💸

A new Florida law indicates high school students will now be required to take a financial literacy course before graduation. While learning about money management sounds appealing to millennials, it received a rather shocking response on social media.

The course is said to teach different kinds of bank accounts offered like how to balance a checkbook, compute federal income taxes, credit scores, credit card debt, and much more. Governor DeSantis mentioned they will even discuss cryptocurrency as the course evolves.

Many people believed this was a fantastic idea and took to their social feeds to share their opinion. Many said they wish they had this course in school.

Baby boomers are even getting behind Governor DeSantis' efforts and joking about real-life situations with their own kids.

Although numerous individuals have positive feelings about this new initiative... some didn't hold back on their negative thoughts.

Some Twitter users compared their current perspective on reality, stating Governor DeSantis has not helped improve the economy.

Some people even questioned if this was a teacher's right or a parental right to be showing students how to properly manage their money.

Florida joins 21 U.S. states to require financial literacy as a prerequisite. The state is also seventh in the nation to require a stand-alone course.

This bill was recently signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on March 21, 2022.

Despite how people feel about the bill, it is expected to go into effect on July 1, 2022.
