No Frills Drops An Auto-Tuned Rap Track To Keep Shoppers ‘A Cart Apart’ (VIDEO)

No Frills, but some thrills!

Even supermarkets are getting in on the COVID-19 song game. In a rather unexpected twist on May 7, Canadian store No Frills dropped a surprise autotuned track to educate customers on the importance of social distancing. The No Frills song is here and it is... something.

The track surfaced on Thursday, May 7 and it's oddly compelling listening.

The song, poetically titled "A Cart Apart," aims to help spread advice about good physical distancing practices for shoppers stocking up.

But it's not just the summer banger we've all been unknowingly waiting for.

It's also a charitable initiative intended to support No Frills workers throughout the difficulties of living and working (or not working) during a pandemic.

For every single play of the song, $1 will be donated to the  President’s Choice Children’s Charity, up to a maximum of $50,000.

At our count, then, we're happy to admit we've likely donated a decent sum already.

The video has only a few hundred views at the time of writing, but we feel that might change soon.

No Frills posted the video to YouTube at some time on May 7, along with the caption: "In times like these, we all need to come together by staying a cart apart. Let’s be patient. Let’s be respectful. And let’s all work together to #HaulResponsibly."

The store also tweeted on Thursday afternoon to announce its foray into the music world, complete with a confident caption.

"Ya. That’s right. We made a track and it’s 🔥," read the caption.

Excuse us, but Canada's public will be the judge of that.

A press release emailed by the Brampton, Ont.-based chain announced it has dropped "this summer’s hottest track."

It notes that the song is "half banger, half PSA" and talks through advice like social distancing and not hoarding staple items.

Back in mid-March, when Ontario was in the midst of its panic-buying stage of pandemic response, a No Frills store at Lansdowne and Dundas in Toronto saw huge lines and dwindling stock.

So that anti-hoarding advice might be useful.

Anyway, are we ready to add "A Cart Apart" to our summer banger list alongside "Speaking Moistly" and "A Bunch of Yahoos?"

Yes, yes we are.

We'll never again have to wonder how much distance to keep in-store.
