It's that time of year again where we're all stressed out about something. As the days get shorter and the sun isn't out for as long as it was in the summer, we find ourselves struggling to get to that 5 o'clock point or to get our minds off of work on the weekends. Well, I'm here to give you a reason to not go home early from work or to maybe skip that last class of the day...
Happy hour.
Two words that mean so much. You can save money while munching on great apps, catch up with friends and obviously, get a couple of cheap but delicious drinks. So here is your official guide to a weeks worth of happy hour in Ottawa, but you can of course spread this out over a couple of months!
MONDAY // Sidedoor Contemporary Kitchen & Bar
Time: 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Sidedoor offers $2 tacos and delicious drink specials Monday to Friday every week. This cute restaurant is perfect to catch up with your girlfriends over some drinks and Mexican cuisine.
TUESDAY // Metropolitan Brasserie
Time: 4 pm - 7 pm
Metropolitan Brasserie's happy hour is referred to as 'Hill Hour' and serves delicious appetizers. If you're not in the mood to drink, this is a great place to be. They offer $1.50 PEI oysters and $1.00 chilled shrimp, so you can go to town if you're sharing with a friend or your bae.
WEDNESDAY // The Standard Luxury Tavern
Time: 4 pm - 6 pm
Everything on their menu from 4 pm - 6 pm is $6.00. Talk about a deal, right? They offer delicious appetizers such as dips and chips and their amazing poutine, as well as house red or white wine and a pint of Kichesippi beer.
THURSDAY // SOCIAL Restaurant & Lounge
Time: 3 pm - 6 pm
Social is the perfect place to go on a girls night. They offer deals on their delicious and cute drinks, as well as specials on cured meats, artisan cheeses and a few appetizers. This is the perfect before dinner meal and you'll get a cute Instagram pic out of it as well.
FRIDAY // The Grand Pizzeria and Bar
Time: 3 pm - 6 pm
The Grand refers to their happy hour as 'Market Hour', which consists of 1/2 priced selected pizzas with the purchase of a beverage, $5 draught beer and $20 pitchers of sangria. Their pizza and sangria is to die for, so wrap up the week perfectly by indulging!
SATURDAY // MURRAY STREET Kitchen
Time: 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
On the weekends, you definitely want simplicity. So MURRAY STREET Kitchen is the perfect place to relax on the weekend and lay low. They have $25 dollar charcuterie boards that are amazing for sharing, $6 glasses of wine and $4 craft drafts. If you're planning on hanging out in the ByWard Market before or after, definitely stop by this place.
SUNDAY // The Laff
Time: 6 pm - 11 pm
If you're really dreading work or school on Monday, The Laff is the perfect spot for you. Happy hour consists of $12 pitchers of Labatt 50, $14 pitchers of Moosehead, and $4 Jägermeister. You'll not only enjoy the deals, but you'll enjoy the experience as well since you never know who will walk in that door (Justin Bieber once did, just saying).
