One Of Canada's Largest Hot Air Balloon Festivals Is Happening Near Montreal Right Now
There are so many incredible festivals happening this month! If there's one festival you have to attend, it's the International Balloon Festival Of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu. It's one of Canada's largest hot air balloon festivals, happening only 30 minutes from Montreal!
The 36th International Balloon Festival Of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu is back, bigger and better this year! There will be nine days of events from Aug. 10 to 18, 2019.
At this stunning festival, 100 hot air balloons from around the world will fill the sky. Looking up, you'll be able to spot all sorts of uniquely shaped hot air balloons flying above you. For example, there will be a lion, raccoon, deer, and cat!
On Aug. 11, 13, 16, and 17, the hot air balloons will take to the skies at night, and will look like giant Chinese floating lanterns. Seeing the skies filled with illuminated hot air balloons will be a magical sight you won't want to miss.
In addition to the hot air balloons, there will be plenty to do! You can take part in activities such as an aerial obstacle course, tons of classic fair rides to try, and the option to take a fun pedal boat ride in a tropical oasis!
One new attraction this year is the La Tyro a Piko, where you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view as you zoom across a 400-foot long zip line! Plus, there will also be three stages with musical headliners like Coeur De Pirate, Sean Kingston, Akon, Walk Off The Earth, Serena Ryder, Loud, and more!
If you don't want to drive, there's also the option to take the shuttle bus between Montreal and the festival. The shuttle tickets cost $10.25 a person.
A one-day ticket for the festival is $30-35, or a nine-day festival pass is $80. This festival is also your chance to scratch "flying in a hot air balloon" off your bucket list! A morning hot air balloon flight is $185 a person, while an evening flight is $225 a person.
