According to France Gélinas, NDP MPP for Nickle Belt, the bill was announced on March 11, citing a concern for Ontarian's health during the pandemic.
The bill, which is called the Temptation Be Gone Act, will reportedly allow the government to restrict the sale and marketing of high-fat, high-sugar snacks, if approved.
"Marketers know that strategically placing high fat, sugar and sodium foods in those line ups pay off. It’s time to stop tempting Ontario’s consumers to eat more junk food," Gélinas said in a statement.
