An Ontario Student Was Run Over & Seriously Injured In A Campus Game Gone Wrong

He was laid down in front of the car at the time.

An Ontario student was run over by his friend during a scavenger hunt-type game in Oshawa on Saturday night, November 9. Police say the 20-year-old Ontario Tech University coed was playing a fraternity game called "Capture the Brick". He was badly injured, suffering a fractured leg and shoulder.

"Capture the Brick" is a game in which two teams of people, often students, attempt to "capture" a brick and hide it from the other side.

On this occasion, Durham Regional Police (DRP) say the injured man noticed a 2020 Mini Cooper and believed the hunted brick was in the vehicle.

He then laid down in front of the car to make sure it didn't leave.

While he was in that position, DRP say another male entered the vehicle and inadvertently ran over his friend, not knowing he was there.

The injured student was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Names and further details have not been released by the DRP. Durham Region suggests the student is recovering.

Police say that they do not expect to press charges against anyone.

This incident is just one of several to rock the student community of southern Ontario in the past year.

Ontario Tech university already saw a 19-year-old enrollee killed in a collision involving a vehicle last year.

That led the City of Oshawa to create a community safety zone near the campuses of Ontario Tech and neighbouring Durham College as an attempt to prevent such incidents in the future.

And, just a couple of months ago, Wilfrid Laurier students were filmed jumping through a huge fire during Labour Day weekend.

A 17-year-old was later arrested on charges including arson, according to Global News.
