Ontario To Reach Temperatures Of Up To 30 C This Week
Keep the sunscreen handy, Ontario — this week is going to be a rather hot and humid one, with temperatures soaring into the upper 20s and possibly reaching 30 C by Friday.
"Future updates may be able to add another degree or two to our high temperatures with the potential for temperatures to approach 30 C on Friday," says Doug Gillham, a meteorologist for The Weather Network.
The summer-like heat is expected to arrive sometime by the mid-week mark, following a slight cool down of temperatures and a some thunderstorms on Tuesday. The heaviest rainfall on Tuesday is expected to hit the Niagara region, affecting cities along the southwestern shore of Lake Ontario and the northeastern shore of Lake Erie.
However, conditions will gradually switch from rainy to dry from the early afternoon on Tuesday and through Wednesday, with a "very warm and increasingly humid pattern" persisting until the weekend.
"Much of the weekend will be rain-free with high temperatures in the upper 20s (30 C possible on Saturday) and a humidex in the mid- to upper 30s," says Gillham.
June is going to be hot
Even more good news — forecasts show that June is going to be a warm month for Ontario, with weather patterns similar to the ones occurring this weekend expected to continue next month.Â
Such forecasts are in line with ones previously made by other meteorologists, who have said that Ontario is in for a long, hot summer this year.
"Overall, June is expected to be warmer than normal, but a couple periods of cooler weather should still be expected during the early to middle parts of the month," adds Gillham.
