Ontario's Cottage Towns Will See Temperatures Drop As Low As 6 C This Weekend

Single-digit lows are hitting Ontario this weekend.

Summer weekends are quickly running out, and most of us are rushing to the beach and cottage country to make those last summer memories before it gets cold again. However, those of you who have planned a trip up north this weekend better pack a jacket. Ontario weather in cottage country will practically feel like November in the early morning hours.

According to The Weather Network, another cold front will send temperatures down into the single digits. We're going to get some of the most frigid weather we’ve seen since early June in Ontario. Daytime highs are only expected to reach the low 20s, and not even that in some areas.

You’re going to need to layer up if you plan on sitting around the campfire this weekend. Widespread overnight lows will drop down significantly, with some places like Bancroft and Algonquin dropping below 5 C during the early morning.

Thankfully, most areas will see a gradual warm-up after Friday. Daytime highs will still be on cooler side, but at least we'll have plenty of sunshine. And according to The Weather Network, summer's not quite over yet.

"While the end of August will bring a couple tastes of early fall-like weather, summer is not over just yet as we expect that warmer than normal temperatures will return after Labour Day and a warm pattern should dominate during early and mid September," explains The Weather Network meteorologist Dr. Doug Gillham.
