Torontonians Who Want A White Christmas Will Need To Shlep Outside The City This Year
Sadly, at the moment it’s looking like we're not going to have a white Christmas in Toronto this year. According to The Weather Network, the 6ix is forecasted to be sunny and warm on December 25, 2019, which sort of feels like a slap in the face from Jack Frost considering all the messy weather he has served us so far this year.
While weather predictions are, at their core, estimations, it's still not looking good on the holiday miracle front. Yet, of course, anything is possible.
However, if you’re really looking to experience that magical moment of waking up to snowfall on the big day, we know a spot not too far from the GTA that’s predicted to get a little of the white stuff next week.
Muskoka, Ontario, the little slice of cottage country heaven that becomes a hot spot for Torontonians during summer, may be your best bet to see a white Christmas this year.
Senior climatologist of Environment Canada, Dave Phillips told CTV News that "in Ontario, some lake effect snow could hold in areas like Goderich and Muskoka but flurries won’t be enough to keep snow on the ground in Toronto."
With snow already on the ground, Muskoka is expected to get an additional one centimetre of snow on Thursday and on Christmas Day.
While it may not sound like much, Environment Canada's definition of a white Christmas is having two centimetres of snow on the ground before Christmas morning.
Thankfully, Muskoka isn’t expected to be too cold on Christmas, so you’ll actually be able to enjoy it, with a forecasted temperature of just -3 C.

Overall, driving from Toronto to Muskoka takes around two hours, so it's not super far away.
Next week is also supposed to be pretty tame for both regions in terms of snow, which means you shouldn’t have any problems getting up there.
Of course, there's no actual guarantee that you'll be blessed with a white Christmas anywhere in southern Ontario.
Environment Canada recently warned that much of Canada would look extremely green for the holidays.
If you're looking for a guarantee of having a white Christmas this year, Dave Phillips warns that you may want to head to a different province altogether.
"Anything north of Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton — hey, you’re guaranteed a white Christmas," he confirms.
