Southern Ontario Will Be Hit With Another 10 cm Of Snow & Freezing Rain This Week
While Groundhog Day may have predicted an early spring for the province, it looks like the winter weather is still here. Ontario's weather forecast isn't expected to get much better this week after last weekend's snow flurries and cold temperatures. According to The Weather Network, southern parts of the province are at risk of "significant snowfall" midweek, with freezing rain also on the table.
If you've been outside this Monday, you've probably noticed that it's pretty warm out right now. Well, that's because of an "above-seasonal warmth" that is expected to float around during the daytime today.
However, it won't last long. According to weather experts, an approaching cold front is set to bring a mixture of snow, rain, and ice overnight on Monday.
"On Tuesday there is the chance for rain along the north shores of Lake Erie and unfortunately some pesky scattered freezing drizzle for areas along western Lake Ontario and through the shores of Lake Huron," explained Weather Network meteorologist Matt Grinter.
Luckily, southern Ontario won't start to see heavy snowfall until Wednesday.
The GTA is predicted to get at least 5 centimetres of snow on both Wednesday and Thursday, amounting to around 10 centimetres throughout the week.
Luckily, the weekend is looking a lot clearer weather-wise this week.

"There are several scenarios that could influence the amount of snow that regions along Lake Ontario could see," a description from the Weather Network reads.
"The heaviest snow currently looks to remain south of the lake, but [Grinter] notes that there is still the risk for accumulating snow to the north on Thursday."
Over the weekend, it was discovered that the Old Farmer's Almanac had predicted a depressingly snowy first day of spring this year.
In fact, most of Canada's forecast for the first week of spring include snow flurries and freezing rain.
So don't put your winter boots away just yet, you'll probably need them for a little while longer.
